Anas Elastomerus is loosely latin for Rubber Duck. Northwestern's 2015 Concrete Canoe project management team made radical changes in not only the management but also the design and construction of our concrete canoe. We felt that the rubber duck embodied impressive engineering design in terms of material selection and user-centered design, but also exhibited a more fun side of engineering that the team really embodied.
Compared to previous canoes, Anas Elastomerus was shorter, thinner, and lighter, all factors that attributed to her increased tracking and improved maneaverability.
She won 3rd place at the 2015 ASCE Great Lakes Regional Conference.
