Location: Chicago, Illinois

Program: 1.8 mil SQ FT

Spring 2014

Skills: Sketching, Revit, Rhino, 3D Printing

Challenge:

Design a skyscraper that will occupy the original site of the Chicago Spire that contains 1.8 million square feet of area.

Solution:

Mixed-Used skyscraper that contain retail, hotel, and residential spaces. The first few floors contained retail space which also included a restaurant and small boutiques. The next five floors contained hotel space while the rest of the building was residential.

Inspiration:

Inspiration for the Cornelius stemmed from Chicago's gridlike layout which led us to experiment with Mondrian's quadrangular forms.
